In our work together, I like to say that “you are the captain of the ship and I am your skipper.” You determine the destination, and I am here to help you navigate the waters to get there. Because every journey is unique, I use a mixture of therapeutic techniques to ensure each session is tailored to what you need on that specific day. I want to be transparent: if you are looking for one specific, rigid style of therapy, I may not be the best fit for you. However, if you’re looking for a partner who will adapt and cater to your evolving needs, I am here and ready to assist you.
I’ve spent the majority of my life and career within the military community, including the last eight years living abroad. This journey has allowed me to experience the world’s many cultures firsthand and has instilled in me a deep respect for the unique background each client brings to the table.
As a dedicated reader and an open-minded thinker, I recognize that I am human and always growing, just like my clients. My goal is simple: to provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for anyone ready to begin their therapeutic journey.
I believe in meeting you where you feel most comfortable. For those who prefer in-person connection, my office is located at 146 N McDonough St, Jonesboro, GA 30236. I also provide virtual sessions for added flexibility in your schedule. My current practice hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00 am until 3:00 pm, and I look forward to connecting with you in the space that serves you best.
The frequency of our sessions is entirely up to you and what feels right for your journey. Whether you’d like to meet weekly, bi-weekly, or once a month, I am happy to accommodate the pace that serves you best. Therapy truly moves at your speed. As we plan our time together, I also encourage you to check with your insurance provider to see how many sessions your specific plan covers, so we can ensure our schedule aligns with your benefits.
To ensure that I can offer every available time slot to clients who may be in need, I require at least 24 hours' notice for any cancellations. To avoid a cancellation or no-show fee, please ensure you notify me at least one full day before our scheduled time. For example, if we are scheduled for Monday at 10:00 am, the session would need to be cancelled by Sunday at 10:00 am. I appreciate your understanding in helping me keep my practice accessible for everyone.
YES! I believe that the true work from therapy happens OUTSIDE of our session. However, this is not homework that you have to turn in. This is a tool to assist you to think on, work on, or experience while outside of our sessions to keep the momentum going between our meetings. You get as much as you give in therapy.
Therapy to me is like dating. The first session or two we are learning each other. You can share as much as you wish and just let it out, or you can interview me to ensure that we are a good fit. During the conversations I will be actively listening, and I may take a note to ensure I do not interrupt you. If I need clarification, I will ask once you are done. During our sessions if we get “deep” or the topic becomes extremely heavy, I will bring us to a lighter topic for a moment to ensure that we do not overextend you. Think of therapy like a physical workout: our muscles can work hard for a short period, but they need a pause to recalibrate and stay safe before they can handle the heavy lifting again. That is what I do within my sessions. I work us out, all while trying to ensure you’re mentally safety.
Your comfort and progress are my primary goals. If you ever feel that my therapeutic style isn’t the right fit for you, I encourage you to share that with me. We can certainly explore different tools or shift our approach to better meet your needs. Ultimately, I want to ensure you receive the specific support you need to navigate your challenges, even if that means helping you connect with another professional who might be a better match for your journey.
I am here to support you. It is my commitment to ensure you always feel safe, heard, and respected in our sessions. If there is ever a time when you feel I have fallen short of this, I encourage you to let me know so I can make the necessary adjustments. Should we find that I am unable to meet your specific needs, I will take responsibility for referring you to a colleague who can, ensuring you have a smooth and supportive transition.
Individual Therapy: A private meeting between a client and a licensed therapist (usually 45-60 minutes) to address personal challenges, mental health conditions, and emotional goals. These sessions provide a safe, confidential space to discuss thoughts, behaviors, and emotions to promote healing, personal growth, and self-awareness.
Couples Therapy: A structured, confidential meeting (usually 90 minutes) where both partners in a relationship work with a licensed therapist to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen intimacy. It addresses relationship patterns, fosters understanding, and provides tools for better interaction.
Family Therapy: A structured, short-term, solution-focused psychotherapy sessions conducted by licensed therapist (usually 90 minutes). They involve family members (parents, children, partners, or caregivers) to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships by focusing on dysfunctional patterns within the family unit.
